State Rep. Armanini visits Elk County for license plate replacement event
RIDGWAY- The Ridgway Fireman’s Carnival lot was packed with cars Monday afternoon, as many people lined up to begin the process of getting their license plates replaced.
State Representative Mike Armanini, who represents the 75th Legislative District in the state House of Representatives serving all of Elk County and parts of Clearfield County, commented on holding this event for the first time.
“I’m so glad we were able to bring this to Elk County because there’s just so many plates that need refurbished,” Armanini said.
Armanini later explained the process of acquiring a new license plate, and several people from Armanini’s staff and Ridgway Borough Police officers took the registration and license number from each of the drivers’ cars in line.
The police officers determined if a license plate was bad or not, and then Armanini’s office will proceed with the process and then forward the information collected to Harrisburg so that individuals can get their plates replaced.
Armanini said he expects the new license plates to arrive at the attendees' homes in 4 to 5 weeks. A new registration card will need to be acquired due to the license plate number changing.
Ridgway Mayor, Ray Imhof was also present at Monday’s event, and found himself in the thick of directing traffic early on as cars poured into the fireman’s lot. Traffic was congested throughout North Broad and parts of Main Street for several minutes after the 4 o’clock hour.
“It’s just a matter of getting enough personnel down in that area to keep the traffic flow off of North Broad and Main Street,” Imhof said. “Once we had additional help from the fire police everything worked out real well.”
Imhof was encouraged with the turnout and was appreciative of Armanini and his staff for taking the time to do this event for community members of Elk County. Armanini and his team plan to hold another license plate replacement event in DuBois later this month.
