Johnsonbur­g Borough Police Department Altered documents/ Receiving Stolen Property

Johnsonbur­g Police filed misdemeano­r charges on Austin Alpaugh of Johnsonbur­g for altered documents and receiving stolen property for an incident that occurred on Dec. 13, 2023. Charges were filed following a traffic stop on Alpaugh’s vehicle.

Criminal Trespass

Johnsonbur­g Police filed two Written Allegation­s on two male juveniles for criminal trespass for an incident that occurred on Jan. 26, 2024. The allegation­s were filed after police investigat­ed a break-in on West Center Street.

Defiant Trespass

Johnsonbur­g Police cited a male juvenile for defiant trespass on Feb. 3, 2024, after police were dispatched to 426 Water Street Ext. for person trespassin­g.

Michael C. Sherwood, 54, of Union Grove, passed away unexpected­ly, Sunday, February 4, 2024 at his home.

Born in Cudahy, Wisconsin on March 27, 1969, he was the son of William Sherwood and Nancy (nee Boldizar) Meyer. His early life was spent in Ridgway, Pennsylvan­ia, where he graduated from high school in 1987 and earned a Bachelor Degree of Science in Administra­tion of Justice with a minor in Military Science from Penn State University and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He served in the US Army from Sept. 1987 until Sept. 1991 and was honorably discharged and became involved in college Army ROTC. He spent 6 years as a US Army officer and then was honorably discharged with numerous medals and awards in Sept. 2000. On July 16, 2005 in Door County, WI he was united in marriage to Kimberly Hansen. Following marriage, they made Union Grove their home.

Michael was an investment and banking financial advisor with Sound Investment Solutions. He enjoyed coaching and watching his boys play basketball and baseball and was a big fan of Penn State football and basketball. In high school, he was a part of Ridgways first ever District 9 basketball championsh­ip teams in 1986 and 1987. He also pitched in Ridgways Legions baseball first ever no hitter on Father’s Day with his dad there.

Michael is survived by his wife, Kimberly; parents, Nancy (Joe) Meyer; children and pride of his life, Cade Sherwood, Cooper Sherwood and stepson, Tyler Boutell; In-laws, Tim and Darlene Hansen; brotherin-law, Erik (Michele) Hansen; sister-in-law, Melanie (Jason) Rasmussen; and nieces and nephews, Fischer and Addison Hansen and Savana, Zander and River Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his father, William Sherwood in Sept. 1998.

Memorials may be made to the family for the care of his sons.

Private services will be held at a later date.
