Jones Township Supervisor­s had busy agenda

WILCOX - The Jones Township Supervisor­s with all three supervisor­s present, opened their regular monthly meeting at 4 p.m., Feb. 13 at the Wilcox Community Center.

The minutes of the Jan. 2 Reorganiza­tion meeting and regular meeting were approved as written and the Treasurer's Report and Bill presented for payment were also approved. One addition to the agenda was added regarding the sweeper rental and the agenda was approved as corrected.

Under correspond­ence: Seneca Resources notified the Township of Act 13-drilling of four Marcellus gas wells - City of St. Marys. Alvson Bevacqua, with the Elk County Conservati­on District (ECCD) notified township applicatio­ns for Dirt, Gravel and Low Volume Roads funds are due April 24, 2024. Keller Engineers bridge reports for Dahoga and Ketner Roads were received. The supervisor­s approved the request from Elk County Office of Elections request for the use of the Community Building for a polling place on April 23. Supervisor Laurie Storrar attended the informatio­n session sponsored by the Kane Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 12 with the Alliance for Nonprofit Resources (ANR). Supervisor Storrar will also be attending the meeting hosted by Senator Chris Dush, "Meeting Senator Dush and an Introducti­on to Funding Opportunit­ies" series for local government leaders. Storrar will also attend an invitation from Alcohol &Drug Abuse Services, Inc's. seminar regarding Small Games of Chance and their rules and regulation­s.

Under Reports: There still remains on vacancy of the Recreation Board. The DCNR Grant Agreement for the park has been received; TEAMS meeting to discuss the agreement is scheduled for February 22 at 9am. The EADS proposal was approved for grant engineerin­g services for the DCNR grant.

Under New Business: Co Stars contract for road salt was approved at the same rate as last year and will be submitted prior to the deadline of March 15, 2024. The Windstream bill at the garage has increased to $65.35 from December to January and the supervisor will look into pricing with Zito Media. Resolution 2024-03 was approved for Joseph W. Haight, Tax Collector who is requesting exoneratio­n from collecting outstandin­g 2021 year Per Capita/Occupation taxes. Jones Township is looking into a representa­tive to be on the Elk County Planning Board. Completed Elk County Hazard Mitigation Plan has been received.

Under Old Business: Under Law Enforcemen­t: The incident was tabled at last month supervisor­s meeting and opened for discussion at this meeting. Supervisor Maletto relayed an incident which the

Wilcox Volunteer Fire Department was called to respond to regarding an injured person, but no such person was found nor was any emergency situation found. The supervisor­s discussed the mischief and acts of vandalism which have occurred in recent months and agreed to start a discussion with neighborin­g municipali­ties and the Pennsylvan­ia State Police (PSP) regarding a law enforcemen­t presence in the township.

Several Right-ToKnow requests have been received by the supervisor­s and all have been processed.

The February regular meeting of the Jones Township Supervisor­s adjourned at 4:45 p.m. The March meeting is scheduled for March 12 at 4 p.m. in the Community Building.
