Local Make-A-Wish Chapter seeking volunteers to help make wishes come true

-

PUNXSUTAWNEY— This April, during World Wish Month, Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia is seeking passionate volunteers to join its incredible team of wish granters. From wish granting to event support, volunteers play a critical role in bringing the power of wishes to life for these inspiring children.

As members of “wish teams,” volunteers are the faces of Make-AWish in their local communities. Working together, the “wish team” is assigned to a child in their area, meet with the family and aides in determining the most suitable wish for the child. Some volunteering may be done virtually.

To become a wish volunteer, individuals must be at least 21 years of age, pass a criminal background check and attend a training session.

Make-A-Wish is hosting a virtual information session on Wednesday, April 17 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Interested parties should sign up via the volunteer inquiry form now, and the local Make-AWish office will reach out soon with next steps: wish.org/greaterpawv/volunteer.

“This World Wish Month, we invite compassionate individuals from our community to join us and be the reason a child’s wish takes flight,” says Lacy Bair, Regional Manager for Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia. “A wish experience is more than just a fun day – it’s a powerful source of hope and strength for children facing immense challenges. Our dedicated volunteers are the heart and soul of our mission, working tirelessly to make dreams come true.”
