The bid from Northrock from Cranberry, was $111,436 and the final bid from S. E. Rodich Excavation, LLC from St. Marys, was $125,776.90. A motion was approved to accept the low bid from Northrock upon tabulation/verification of the bids by the engineers.
It was noted by the supervisors there are few items which may be required, not covered by the bid, which include the possible relocation of a utility pole and gas line as well as possible private driveway repairs.
Bills were approved for payment as presented.
Roadmaster Markert informed the supervisors the engine on the 2008 Case Grader was "blown". He has received quotes from Wilcox Automotive and Cleveland Brothers on the installation of a rebuilt engine. Both companies advised against a re-build of an old engine over getting a new one at this point. The grader also needs new tires and the quote was $3,400 for off brand radials. The supervisors approved the purchase of the tires and are also considering fixing everything which needs fixing at this time, to which all supervisors agreed.
The 1996 Ford Sweeper is also in need of repairs and are currently getting quotes. The supervisors are also looking into purchasing cold patch from Woodland Equipment and Supply once the road crew is ready for it.
Correspondence was received from the estate of a local tax payer regarding their concerns with the Elk County Comprehensive Plan. A request for dust control for Fritz Road was also received along with North Central's RPO Transportation Improvement Program, which is available for public comment through May 31, 2024.
The next regular meeting of the Jones Township Supervisors is scheduled for May 21, 2024 at 4 p.m. at the Community Building.
