Van Galder bus has new pick up location

- Chris Green

Luke Miller thought Sunday was going to be like every other Sunday at O’Hare. Get off his plane, head to the airport’s bus shuttle center and catch a Van Galder coach to Rockford.

Much to Miller’s dismay, it didn’t work out that way. Van Galder, a popular mode of transportation for Rockford residents traveling to and from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport has made a change. And if you’re not aware, you could miss your bus.

Miller, who has family in Rockford, posted Monday on Facebook: “FYI if you ever take Van Galder from O’Hare back to Rockford, they moved the bus terminal.”

Here’s what you need to know:

What has changed?

As of June 1, all regional bus services at O’Hare have moved to the Multi-Model Facility, 10255 W. Zemke Road.

How do I get to the Multi-Model Facility?

You’ll have to ride the Airport Transit System to connect between the airport’s terminals and the MMF. For the Airport Transit System, follow signs to terminals and then signs for airport transit.

Which regional bus services are effected by this?

Coach USA/ Van Galder, Coach USA/ Wisconsin Coach Line, Express Air Coach, Lafayette Limo Inc., PCC/Peoria Charter Coach and Reindeer Shuttle.

Is it going to take longer for me to get home?

Not necessarily, according to Miller, who thinks the move could be a good thing.

“I think in the long run, it’ll be a good idea to have the buses with a little more access to the highway rather than having to go through that loop area.”
