ROCKFORD - Kathleen Susan (Sue) Drager, 83, of Rockford, Illinois died on December 5, 2023 in her home. She was born on May 27, 1940 to parents Gus and Violet Omark in Rockford, Illinois. She was married to her husband Jim for over 60 years and was the anchor of her family as they were raising their two boys. Later, she worked for the Illinois Secretary of State Police for 20 years. After retiring, she and Jim split time between homes in Rockford and Sarasota, Florida where they spent winters for over 20 years. For the past two years she has been a resident at Peterson Meadows in Rockford.

Sue is survived by son Barry (Annetta) with grandsons Brandon and Bailey; son Jay (Sheryl) with grandchild­ren Emma and Ethan; brother Gary (Dawn) Omark and nieces Marcy (Tim) Carlson and Shelly (Jim) Hall. She was predecease­d by her husband Jim, her parents, her inlaws Merle and Helen Drager, her granddaugh­ter Kelsey and sister-in-law Nancy Omark.

Sue was a nurturing and loving mother, grandmothe­r, wife and a friend to many. At the forefront, she loved caring for her family and, in particular, her grandchild­ren. Sue will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Thank you to Peterson Meadows, the team from Home Instead and Northern Illinois Hospice for their wonderful care. A special thank you to caregivers Holly and Lenore who took such exceptiona­l care of our mom/grandma and were a blessing to our family.

A celebratio­n of life for Sue will take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023, with a visitation at 9:30 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at First Free Church, 2223 North Mulford Rd, Rockford, Illinois. After the service, please join us for a reception and time to reminisce at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Peterson Meadows Endowment Fund or the First Evangelica­l Free Church Memorial Fund.
