Meet the finalists for Rockford Register Star Student of the Week

- Chris Green

We asked area high schools to nominate students for Student of the Week based on academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, character, public service and participation in clubs and activities.

This week's finalists include a student who is setting and meeting goals while still making time to help his friends, an academic scholar with an interest in medicine and a dedicated and hardworking student who engages others.

We publish a list of Student of the Week finalists every Monday at rrstar.com and every Tuesday in the Rockford Register Star. Readers can vote online as many times as they wish until 11 a.m. Thursday.

The winner of the online poll is announced at rrstar.com every Friday and in print Sunday in the Rockford Register Star.

Here are this week's finalists.

Cama'Jay Casson-London, East

Cama'Jay Casson-London, 18, is one of those students who puts a smile on your face when he comes in the doors. He has worked hard the past few years to stay on top of his schoolwork as well as participating in football, track and basketball and supporting his friends through some incredibly difficult circumstances. Since senior year began, he has been on top of his goals for life after high school. Casson-London worked hard to decide what college would be best for him, his major and his ability to afford a higher education. He just signed a letter of intent to play football next year for St. Xavier, as well. Casson-London is an all-around great student who will be missed at East when he graduates in June.
