MACHESNEY PARK Scott Leslie, age of 64, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away April 13, 2024 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Scott was born on August 6, 1959, in Rockford, Illinois to Donald and Betty (Frantz) Leslie. He was a Harlem High School graduate. Scott married his best friend and love of his life, Danelle Scales, on May 1, 1982, in Loves Park. He worked at Warner Lambert from 1982 through 2017. He was then employed by Bourn & Koch Inc. in 2018 and was set to retire in August 2024. Scott brought immense joy to those around him. His most cherished moments were spending quality time with his loving friends, family, and beloved grandchild­ren, who know him as ‘Papa’. In his free time, he enjoyed sitting on his back deck listening to music, watching sports while cheering for the Packers every season, an avid golfer found out on the green on any sunny day, and actively fishing anywhere he could cast a line from Wisconsin to Canada, to most recent in Florida on Lake Okeechobee. Scott’s journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind an abundance of cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. His rock’ n’ roll soul will always be remembered, along with his kindness, compassion, and positive impact on everyone fortunate to have known him. He will be missed deeply by those who loved him, his wife Danelle, two daughters Alison (Dustin) Fuller of Rockford, IL and Jen (Adam) Bonjean of LaGrange Park, IL; grandchild­ren, Londyn, Tristan, Ryann, Makenzie, and Harper; siblings, Mike (Paulette) Leslie, Dennis (Elaine) Leslie, Linda (Mike) Shanley, and Kelli (Charlie) Rawhoof; special brother-in-law Dave Scales; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Betty Leslie. May dear Scott’s memory continue to comfort all who mourn his passing. Please join us in rememberin­g and celebratin­g Scott’s life. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Machesney Park, IL 61115. The family would also like to extend a thank you to Northweste­rn Medicine. Their kindness and profession­alism brought comfort during a difficult time.
