FORMER ATOMIC blonde Charlize Theron is Andy, a.k.a. Andromache the Scythian, a centuriesold warrior. As per screenwriter Greg Rucka’s graphic novel, she leads a tight group of do-good immortals that include Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts), a member since 1817, and lovers Joe (Marwan Kenzari) and Nicky (Luca Marinelli), who’ve been going at it since the Crusades. Though they can recover from wounds in minutes, pain is a constant. Nile (KiKi Layne), a young Marine, freaks out when Andy recruits her to take down a Big Pharma tycoon (Harry Melling) who’d kill to sell the Old Guard’s DNA. Credit dynamite director Gina PrinceBythewood (Love and Basketball) for staging a female-fronted action film that’s a full-on blast.
