Mr. Allen B. Gifford, age 64, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at his residence.

A transplanted Yankee, he had considered the South his home for many years. He was born in Washington, D.C., lived around the world, graduated from Michigan State University and settled in Rome in 1977. He was a teacher in the Rockmart School System for 38 years, where he touched so many lives.

He leaves behind his sister, Susan, his long time love, Mary, a close inner circle of friends and colleagues, and a host of students whom he cherished.

Friends and family will be celebrating Allen and the joy he brought us all on Sept. 20, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Rockmart High School.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up in his memory. Details will be announced later.

Frances Nanette Loveless

Mrs. Frances Nanette Loveless, age 77, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 26, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held today, Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Phil Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Garden.
