Darlington proved Friday night they could lead a balanced attack on offense in more ways than one.

Senior quarterback Hunter Manning threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns, while the Tigers utilized four different running backs on the way to 151 yards on the ground in a 41-7 blowout over Bremen at home.

Tight end Jake Walker had three catches for 98 yards, including touchdown receptions of 58 and 31 yards from Manning, who completed 12 of 20 passes.

“We beat a good football team tonight,” Darlington coach Tommy Atha said. “We said all week that we felt like Bremen had a better football team than they had last year. We really capitalized on some things and made some plays.”

for 65 yards, a large chunk of which came on a 24-yard touchdown with 4:26 left in the second quarter.

The kick by Jake Verity made it 27-7, but Bremen would be held off by the

Tigers the rest of the way.

The final score came on a 2-yard run from Darlington’s Landon Lawrence with 9:30 to go in the third. Will Sparks made the extra point, and a running clock was

used in the fourth quarter.

The visiting Blue Devils finished with 161 yards of offense — 115 rushing and 46 in the air.

“Bremen puts you in a bind,” Atha said. “They

combine the option with the Wing T. We always liked that because you’ve got to play assignment football on defense.”
