From college, staff reports

The Shorter men’s soccer team secured their second win of the year Saturday afternoon, topping Florida Southern College 1-0.

Shorter moves to 2-4-1 with the win, while the Mocs fall to 1-5 on the year. The game remained scoreless through the first half as defense dominated most of the game and the Hawks were held to just three shots.

The offense picked up in the second half as Shorter managed six shots through the period and netted what would be the game winner in the 67th minute as Fernando De Barros delivered a free kick that bobbled around between players in the box before Darwin Lom posted the finish that gave the Hawks the lead. The lead would stand, despite the Mocs best effort to find the equalizer, and Shorter closed out its home opener with the win. Austen Trevers played the complete game in goal for Shorter, turning in his second win of the year as well as his second shutout, making three saves in the game.
