WHAT’S HAPPENING TODAY

Beard Lake Road will be closed to through traffic today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while Floyd County Public Works repairs the spillway at the south end of the dam, weather permitting. The closing starts at address No. 138. Residents with higher-numbered addresses on the dead end road are encouraged to make alternate parking and travel arrangements.

The Floyd County Board of Education will hold a closed session today at 3 p.m. in the board conference room at the central office, 600 Riverside Parkway. The purpose of the meeting is to continue discussing the hiring of the superintendent. During their February meeting the board announced that interim superintendent John Jackson is the sole candidate for the position.
