Beard Lake Road will be closed to through traffic today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while Floyd County Public Works repairs the spillway at the south end of the dam, weather permitting. The closing starts at address No. 138. Residents with higher-numbered addresses on the dead end road are encouraged to make alternate parking and travel arrangemen­ts.

The Floyd County Board of Education will hold a closed session today at 3 p.m. in the board conference room at the central office, 600 Riverside Parkway. The purpose of the meeting is to continue discussing the hiring of the superinten­dent. During their February meeting the board announced that interim superinten­dent John Jackson is the sole candidate for the position.
