Three people linked to the 2014 Cave Spring convenience store brawl in which shots were fired were sentenced to probation in Floyd County Superior Court.

The shooting and brawl broke out Nov. 8, 2014, at the Rome Food Mart, 2406 Gadsden Road, which resulted in four people being indicted. Three of those pleaded guilty Monday in Superior Court Judge Bryant Durham’s courtroom.

Craig Jones, 36, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and received 12 years probation and a $1,000 fine. Joe Allen Jones, 53, also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to 10 years probation and a $1,000 fine.

Regina Jones, 52, pleaded guilty to battery, for which she received a year’s worth of probation and a $300 fine. Ansley Taylor McGhee’s charges were dropped, according to court records.

According to police reports and the indictment:

David McGhee and his girlfriend drove to the Rome Food Mart for gas and a soda when Craig Jones, with Ansley Taylor McGhee as a passenger, pulled his truck alongside their vehicle.

Ansley McGhee is David McGhee’s estranged wife. She was speaking with David McGhee’s girlfriend when it boiled over into an argument.

At some point, Craig Jones tried to swerve into David McGhee, who responded by firing a shot at the truck.

Jones stopped the truck and said Ansley McGhee was struck, which is when Craig Jones’ brother and sister-in-law, Joe Jones and Regina Jones, showed up. The Jones trio hit David McGhee with a baseball bat, hit his head against the pavement and kicked him. During the fight, Joe Jones was also shot, but reports didn’t indicate who was responsible.
