As an artic blast moved into North Georgia on Tuesday and snow showers mixed with below-freezing wind chills, postseason basketball got caught in the crosshairs.

The schedules for region tournaments have been rearranged as school systems across the area cancelled after school activities due to possible haz- ardous road conditions.

All of Tuesday’s Region 7-AA tournament games, which are the first boys’ games of the tournament, were pushed back to today at the same times at Chattooga High School.

No. 4 seed Coosa will take on No. 5 seed Gordon Lee at 4 p.m., followed by No. 2 seed Darlington and No. 7 seed Armuchee squaring off at 5:30 p.m., and No. 3 Model and No. 6 Dade County tip off at 7.

The winner of each game advances to Friday’s semifinals at Model High School and earns a berth in the Class AA state playoffs. Top seed Chatt-

ooga was given a bye in the first round and has already locked up a spot at state.

Pepperell’s girls were supposed to begin their turn in the Region 5- AAA tournament in Carrollton on Tuesday, but had the match postponed to today at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Dragons (13-10) are the No. 3 seed and will ensure a spot in the Class AAA state playoffs with a win over No. 6 seed Central-Carroll today.

A state playoff berth is also on the line for the Rome High girls in the Region 7- AAAAA tournament, but they will have to wait until Thursday to see if they can extend their season.

The Lady Wolves, the No. 3 seed from the region’s north subregion, were originally scheduled to play South No. 2 seed Sprayberry on Tuesday at Forsyth Central High School in Cumming. They’ll now have to wait until Thursday.
