Getchell to be headmaster at Providence Preparatory
Rome’s Glen Getchell will become the new headmaster at Providence Preparatory Academy on June 1.
Getchell will join school co- founder Pam Finnegan, who has served as the school’s principal since it opened in 2011.
Over the past 22 years Getchell has served as a teacher and coach at Darlington School, headmaster at Unity Christian School, and most recently as president of Getchell Consulting Group.
“Glenn’s experience in Christian education is exactly what we need to guide Providence into the future,” Providence board member Jeff Mauer said.
Getchell said he’s looking forward to his new role.
Providence “provides an option for those who are looking for a school that is committed to supporting the family,” he said. “This unique model provides the excellent academic program students deserve while preserving evening family time.”
Students attend classes on campus two days a week. At home on the other three days, parents follow teacher-designed lesson plans for students to complete their assignments.
Classes are taught at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 1818 Kingston Highway.
“Perhaps the most exciting aspect is that the entire Providence community is centered on the development of a distinctively Christian worldview,” Getchell said. “It is an honor to be called to build upon the existing foundation and start investing in the lives of the staff, students and families.”
Providence Preparatory Academy grades 1- 6 attend the school’s Rome campus on Mondays and Wednesdays. Grades 7-12 attend classes at its partner school, Cornerstone Prep in Acworth, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
