Tickets are still available for the ’80s-flashback fundraiser.

Tickets are still available for the A Night to Remember Adult Prom on Saturday.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, “with an emphasis on fun,” organizer Charisse Durham said.

“Attendees can expect the most low-pressure, high-fun prom ever,” she said.

This year’s prom is bringing back the ’80s with big hair, shoulder pads and bright colors. Attendees will be able to dance to all the big hits from the 1980s as local DJ’s Robert Smyth and Shan McDougal will be choosing the tunes.

Last year’s prom raised about $13,000 for the local Alzheimer’s chapter and Durham said she’s hopeful this year’s prom will raise even more.

The adult prom would not be complete without the crowning of a Prom King and Queen. Local celebrities are vying for the crown by asking people to vote for them. Each vote is $1 and people can vote online at the prom’s website.

The candidates for Prom Queen are Heart of the Community recipient Tonya Davis, realtor Jennifer Hillegas, City Commissioner Evie McNiece and County Commissioner Rhonda Wallace.

Prom King candidates are Georgia Highlands President Don Green, Polk Medical Center Administrator Matt Gorman, local Farmers Insurance Agency owner John Burnette and Phill Wilson, top fundraiser for the 2015 Rome Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The prom starts at 8 p.m. and will last until 11 p.m. at Forrest Place on Broad Street.

Tickets for the event are $50 and can be purchased online through the event’s Facebook page. Durham said she is sure the event will be a sell-out so people should get tickets as soon as possible.

For those who are unable to get tickets, an overflow/after party will be held at the Brewhouse Music & Grill across the street. A cover will be charged but after-party access is included in the price of the prom tickets.
