More than 150 entries were submitted for this year’s contest that challenged residents to capture the sights of Rome through photo and video.
The best pictures and videos from Georgia’s Rome 2016 Photo & Video Contest will be displayed at an award reception Tuesday at the RomeFloyd Visitors Center from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The celebration coincides with National Travel and Tourism Week.
The reception will include recognition of this year’s winners, judged by the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau and viewers of the Georgia’s Rome Facebook and YouTube pages.
The public is invited and light refreshments will be served.
More than 150 entries were submitted in this year’s contest, which challenged area residents and visitors to capture the sights through photo and video.
The reception will display the winners’ entries awarded in five categories: Best Professional
Photo — Jason Blalock; Best Amateur Photo — Crystal Nicole Linsenbigler; Best Mobile Photo — Abigail Smith; People’s Choice Photo — Delene Buffington; People’s Choice Video — Rick Williams; Editor’s Pick Video — Keith Beauchamp and Honorable Mention — Stacy Cates.
“The winners were selected based on creativity and how well the entry
showcased a location that a tourist can visit,” says Nic Diaz, marketing coordinator for the GRCVB. “The reception will give the public a chance to meet the winners and learn more about the inspiration behind their work.”
The winning entries are posted on the Georgia’s Rome website.
Winning photographs will be featured on a new postcard that will be available at the Last Stop Gift Shop, located inside the visitors center at 402 Civic Center Drive.
