MONDAY

The Rome Leadership Prayer Breakfast will take place Thursday at The Forum. Doors will open at 6:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 8:30 a.m. The free event coincides with the National Day of Prayer, and the keynote speaker will be former Major League Baseball player and cancer survivor Dave Dravecky. Although the event is free, reservatio­ns are required. Breakfast will be served by Chick-fil-A. The Northwest Georgia Auburn Club will meet Monday at Roma Mia, 3401 Martha Berry Highway. Social time will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Special guests will be Tim Horton, running backs coach, and Aubie, the team’s mascot. Everett Springs Road will be closed to all traffic from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the bridge near address No. 3511 to prepare for the installati­on of a new bridge. Floyd County Public Works is advising residents to plan ahead to avoid the area during these six hours.

Seven Hills Rotary will meet Tuesday at noon at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave. The program will include members of the Rome-Noon Optimist Club, Rome Lions Club, Kiwanis Club of Rome and many local law enforcemen­t guests and honorees for the 2016 Respect for Law Officers of the Year Award Banquet. The Floyd County Republican Women will meet Tuesday at Red Lobster on Shorter Avenue. They will have lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by the meeting at noon. A 14th District Veterans Benefits Fair sponsored by U.S. Rep. Tom Graves will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Georgia Highlands College’s Heritage Hall, 415 E. Third St. Attendees will be able to meet privately with federal VA representa­tives from several divisions along with representa­tives from the Georgia department­s of labor and drivers services.

The AIDS Resource Council’s third annual Kentucky Derby party fundraiser will be held Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at 7 Lookout Ave. A $25-perperson donation is suggested, or give what you can afford. Traditiona­l Kentucky Derby fare and libations will be served. A silent auction will offer merchandis­e from some of Rome’s finest shops, as well as other desirable donated items. A $50 gift certificat­e to one of Rome’s most popular restaurant­s will be the grand prize for a best hat contest. The race will be watched on a big screen TV at a 6:30 p.m. post time.
