CLOCKTOWER 5K ROAD RACE — The 31st annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2-Mile Health Walk will be held Aug. 20 at 8 a.m. in downtown Rome. The event benefits The Exchange Club Family Resource Center. Early registrati­on is open through Sunday with $25 for the 5K and $20 for the 2-mile walk. Prices increase $5 beginning Aug. 1 and another $5 on the day of the race. A $3 per person discount is available for groups of 10 or more if registrati­on is submitted together no later than Aug. 10. CHEROKEE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB TOURNAMENT — Cherokee Golf and Country Club in Cedartown will host a seniors (50-and-older) two-person scramble Aug. 13-14. PEPPERELL MITES FOOTBALL — Registrati­on for the 2016 Unified Football League has begun with the Pepperell Dragon Mites team looking for players for the upcoming season. Players should be age 11 to 12 before the cut-off date of Sept. 1. First practice will be Monday. TRAVEL BASEBALL TRYOUTS — Rawlings 13U Travel Baseball tryouts will be held on Aug. 13 at Edwards Park Field 8 at 3508 Cleveland Highway in Dalton. YOUTH FOOTBALL COACHES NEEDED FOR SEVERAL DIVISIONS — The Rome-Floyd Unified Football Program is looking for coaches for the upcoming youth football season. Coaches are needed for the Junior Pee Wee division (ages 7-8) in the Armuchee area, the Pee Wee division (ages 9-10) in the Pepperell and Model area, and the new Tiny Mites division (ages 5-6) in all areas.
