Man allegedly shot at vehicle from church lot

A Rome man was in jail without bond Tuesday after being accused of shooting at another man’s vehicle from the property of North Broad Baptist Church.

According to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports:

Trenyon Davis Allen, 36, of 100 Wadsworth St., Apt. A, fired at least two shots at the victim’s vehicle from North Broad Baptist Church property Monday afternoon. The victim was not injured, but the bullets hit his windshield while he was driving.

Allen had posted a video on Facebook prior to the shooting in which he threatened to kill the victim.

He was arrested on Tuesday.

He is facing felony charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and terroristi­c threats and acts.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Calvin Newell Jr., 54, of 10A Wood Creek Way, is accused of robbing a woman of her iPhone 5 and several personal identifica­tion documents during an incident on Lyons Drive late Friday.

Newell initially fled on a motor scooter then ditched the scooter and ran away. He was arrested at his home Monday night and charged with felony robbery.

Newell also faces the misdemeano­r charges of willful obstructio­n of police, driving on a suspended license, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving without insurance and driving on an expired tag.
