Police: Driver causes 2 wrecks near Ga. 140
An Atlanta man was the cause of two wrecks Saturday on Ga. 140 and Old Dalton Road, according to a Floyd County police officer.
According to Floyd County police officer Ron Hunton:
Frederick Boynton, in his late 60s, was traveling west in a 1998 Ford Explorer on Ga. 140 around Hiram Road when he veered into the eastbound lane, causing a GMC to flip.
The unidentified driver of the GMC was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Boynton later tried to turn right on Old Dalton Road and hit a utility trailer being pulled by a 2009 Jeep Wrangler.
No one was injured in that wreck.
Boynton was cited with driving too fast for conditions following the wreck at Old Dalton Road.
Police: Homeless man made threats
A homeless man was being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond Saturday night after police say he threatened someone, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Justin Elihu Tibbitts, 31, is charged with felony terroristic threats and acts and misdemeanor disorderly conduct after police arrested him at 500 E. Second Ave. on Saturday.
Police say woman stole items from car
A Rome woman was being held in jail Saturday night on $3,500 bond after
police state she entered a vehicle that didn’t belong to her and removed some items from the car, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Sheila Denise Smith Selman, 42, of 8 Cliffview Drive Apt. 1, was arrested at 501 Redmond Road around 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
Man charged with aggravated stalking
A Rome man was being held in jail without bond Saturday night after police say he violated an order to stay away from the victim and then broke out a window and cut some laundry lines, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Bobby Andrew Garlin, 26, of 211 E. 20th St., is charged with felony aggravated stalking and second-degree criminal damage to property after police arrested him Saturday afternoon.
