Abortion is the ‘missing piece’

-

In response to the Aug. 22 column “Trump campaign’s missing pieces don’t justify evangelical support,” by Gary Batchelor, I offer the following commentary:

The No. 1 issue in the 2016 presidential election is the right to life. Hillary has declared war on the child in the womb, and Trump has declared that the murderous trend must end. Trump supports life. Hillary does not. Her support for murder in the womb declares her unfit to be a national leader. Trump’s position on life is worthy of recognition, and is the “missing piece” in the Batchelor column.

A child is conceived the moment the male sperm enters the female egg. In this instant, a fully developed soul is created by God and placed in union with the developing body. It then must be considered, is it in man’s hands to decide upon death for what man in union with God created? It is obvious that the evangelical leaders are responding to the need to bring about respect for human life.

In closing, I offer a Hillary comment made in an Atlanta gathering some time back, and shared by a pastor. When asked what she planned to do for the child in the womb, she replied “Nothing.” If there is no respect for life, there is no respect for anything else of value. James Peace Rome
