Haygood named Fellow of American Bar
Terry Haygood, Attorney at Law, has been nominated and accepted as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
The Fellows is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the profession and service to society. They are nominated by their peers and elected by the Board of the Foundation. The Fellows support the research work of the American Bar Foundation through annual contributions and sponsor seminars and events to direct relevance to the leaders of the legal profession.
Haygood has practiced law in Rome since 1980, and currently limits his practice to income tax resolution matters and Medicaid and estate planning issues.
Haygood is also a Barrister at Law. The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple called him to the Bar of England in 2007. The Middle Temple is one of the four Inns of Court exclusively entitled to call their members to the English bar as barristers.
He is also admitted to practice in the District of Columbia. Haygood’s Martindale-Hubbell rating is AV.
A Vietnam veteran, Haygood also operates the free legal clinic for veterans at the VA Medical Facility at Château Drive in Rome. The free VA legal clinic is a project of the Military Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the members of the Rome Bar Association. The clinic is open every Friday morning and is open to all veterans and their families.
Dr. Maryann Mugo joins Floyd Primary Care as endocrinologist
Maryann Mugo, M.D., has joined Floyd Primary Care & Center for Diabetes as an endocrinologist. She will join the practice of Ann Ward, M.D., and Donna Childers, N.P.C., at 48 Hills Creek Road in Taylorsville.
An endocrinologist treats hormonal imbalances in the body, which includes diseases such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, adrenal and pituitary disorders and osteoporosis.
Dr. Mugo earned her medical degree from the University of Nairobi in Nairobi, Kenya. She completed her residency at the Atlantic City Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
Before coming to Floyd, she worked as an endocrinologist at Health East Medical Center in Maplewood, Minnesota, and at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri.
She is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American College of Physicians, American Diabetes Association, American Thyroid Association and the Endocrine Society.

Leslie Pearson joins local real estate firm
Leslie Pearson recently joined Toles, Temple & Wright, Inc. as a Realtor.
Pearson is a graduate of The University of Georgia and an alumna of Darlington School. She has experience owning and managing her own business and most recently was an adjunct instructor at Berry College.
Pearson is a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Greater Rome Board of Realtors, The National Association of Realtors and The Rome Chamber of Commerce. She has served on the fine arts committee at Darlington School, teaches dance at Rome Civic Ballet and teaches fitness classes at Rome Athletic Club.
A native to Rome, she is married to her husband Jack Pearson, who owns and operates Jack Pearson Construction Co., Inc. They have three children, Mackenzie, Jack Jr. and Luke.
