Marvin Harvey Pendergras­s Jr.

Mr. Marvin Harvey “Buzz” Pendergras­s, Jr., age 72, of Silver Creek, passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 22, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Pendergras­s was born in Floyd County on May 12, 1944, son of the late Marvin Harvey Pendergras­s, Sr. and the late Estelle Sargent Pendergras­s. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Bobbie Pruitt, Lena Buttram, and Mary Yarbrough. Mr. Pendergras­s owned and operated B. & D. Hauling, Grading, and Septic Tank Service here in Floyd County for a number of years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Hon in Cedartown for several years. He was a former Mason, Shriner, and was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Dorothy Akins, to whom he was married on January 1, 1987; 2 daughters, Robin Pendergras­s Atkinson, and her husband, Greg, Armuchee, and Debra Alverson, and her husband, Michael, Rome; 2 sons, David Gilmore, Rome, and Chris Gilmore, and his wife, Kendi, Knoxville, TN; 7 grandsons, Kyle and Luke Atkinson, both of Armuchee, Ethan and Austin Gilmore, both of Rome, Ben Alverson, Augusta, and Caleb and Peyton Gilmore, both of Knoxville, TN; nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1 until 3 pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence. Services following the visitation will be private.

Jeffery Lee Ballard

Mr. Jeffery Lee Ballard, age 55, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2106.

Mr. Ballard was born in Blount County, Tennessee on Jan. 24, 1961, son of Everett Lee Ballard and the late Clara Mae Satterfiel­d Ballard. He was a 1979 graduate of Coosa High School and was a member of North Point Church in Adairsvill­e, GA. Jeff was motorcycle enthusiast and loved to ride and was also an avid lover of animals. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Mae Satterfiel­d Ballard.

Survivors include his father, Everett Lee Ballard, and his fiancé, Jeral McClay, both of Rome; a sister, Nancy Ballard Bolt, and her husband, Kevin, of Rome; nephew, Justin Bolt, and his wife, Maegen, of Rome; great-nephew, Liam Bolt, of Rome; niece, Megan Bolt, of Colorado; a uncle, David Ballard, of Cartersvil­le; two aunts, Grace Hatfield, of Cartersvil­le and Faye Schwalm, of Atlanta; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 2:30 PM in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons, North Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Pinkard officiatin­g. Entombment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Saturday from 12:30 PM until time for the service.

Pallbearer­s serving are asked to assemble at Henderson and Sons, North Chapel at 2:00 PM on Saturday and include: James Heard, Bobby Bishop, Terry Downs, Luke Cobb, Justin Bolt, Adam Couey, Buzz Ballard and Joe Looney.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rome/ Floyd County Humane Society, 518 Broad Street, Rome, GA 30161.

Mrs. Leona Ruth Little, age 73, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016, in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Little was born in Salem, New Hampshire on January 13, 1943, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Wal- ter E. Lowes, Sr. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Georgeina Eve Abednego.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Mr. Earnest Donald Little, Rome; 4 daughters, Patricia Jacobs, Robin Minter, and Kelli Sue Castle, all of Florida, and Amber Catalano, Rome; a son, Robert Castle, Jr., Florida; a brother, Walter E. Lowes, Jr., Florida; 18 grandchild­ren, several great-grandchild­ren and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday September 25, 2016 at 7pm in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with family members sharing stories of Mrs. Little’s life. Following the service, in keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Little will be cremated.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Sunday from 5pm until time for the service. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Mr. Robert Roger Hicks, age 69, of Old Highway 140, Adairsvill­e, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hicks was born in Portersvil­le, AL, November 28, 1946, son of the late Bill and Tressie Maudie Parker Hicks. He enjoyed fishing, and working on old cars. Mr. Hicks is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Higgins Hicks.

Survivors include a daughter, Robin Bramblett of Adairsvill­e; sons and daughters-in-law, Christophe­r and Kimberly Hicks of Adairsvill­e and Stetson Hicks of Adairsvill­e; grandchild­ren, Amber Niles, Adam Bramblett, Scotty Seay, and Stephen Schmidt; great-grandchild­ren, Avery Niles, Braylen Hicks, Toliver Hudson, and Lillian Hudson; sisters, Louise Crowder and Lucille Fickett; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 25, 2016, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsvill­e with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Mt. Mr. Marshall Lagrange “Stink” Lattimer 49 of 1305 Hull Ave. Rome, GA. 30161 passed away on September 23, 2016 from a brief illness.

Mr. Lattimer’s service will be September 26, 2016, 12:00 noon at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Carson Officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Marshall Lagrange Lattimer leaves to cherish his lovely memories, two sisters, Marisa (Mark) Bullock and Windy Lattimer, one brother, DeMarcus (Sabrina) Daniel all of Rome, Ga, three Aunts, Mary Ruth Carson of Rome, Ga. Ekaster (Faye) Greene of California, and Linda Hixon a special cousin Regina Carson Hobbs, seven nieces and three nephews and a host of other family members also cherished his memories.
