Allen Murphy,

74, of Rome, died Sept. 23, 2016. Henderson & Sons, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangemen­ts.

Phillip Edward Painter,

59, died Sept. 1, 2016. Music Funeral Services has charge of the arrangemen­ts.

Phil had an outgoing personalit­y, and he developed many close friendship­s that he kept throughout his life. Phil loved to spend time with his friends and family fishing, golfing, and watching sports events. He had a special bond with his daughter, Amber. His favorite football team was the University of Tennessee Volunteers, and he was returning home from a Volunteers football game when his vehicle was struck by the tree. Phil also supported all the Georgia teams including the Valdosta Wildcats, UGA Bulldogs, Atlanta Hawks and Falcons.

Phil is survived by his daughter Amber Painter Anderson, his parents E.C. and Jean Painter, his brother E.C. Painter III and sister-in-law Gail Painter, his sister Susan Noakes and brother-in-law Scott Noakes, his nephews Evan Painter and Alex Noakes, and his niece Emily Noakes. A memorial service was held in Phil’s honor on Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 AM at Clyattvill­e United Methodist Church, the church is located at 5311 Railroad Street at the corner of Nankin Road and the Madison Highway. Philip’s father buried his cremains in the East View Cemetery at 11:23 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016. The family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society. BRISKET: V.P.Q. team barbecue competitor Laurie Wilensky drove all the way from Cumming to compete at the Cave Spring Pig Out. She placed first in the brisket category, followed by Leigh Patterson’s Cooking Team and the Smokin’ Oak barbecue team.
