Shrine Parade to roll this Saturday

- From staff reports

The Rome Shrine Parade is scheduled for this Saturday at 3 p.m.

Lineup for the parade will begin at 2 p.m. on Glenn Milner Boulevard.

The parade will travel down Second Avenue, cross Broad Street and end at Barron Stadium and will feature clowns and Shriners driving their “crazy cars,” according to Shrine spokeswoman Peggy Sims.

Shriners from across Georgia come together to perform in the parade, Sims added.

The Shrine Game will be Oct. 28 between Model High and Coosa High. The game will start at 7:30 p.m. at Model High School.

Sims said all the funds raised by Shriners will be used to help children in the area.

The club provides the cost for transportation to and from Shriners Hospitals in Greenville, South Carolina, and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funds are also used to purchase special medical equipment.
