Rome man accused of pot possession

A Rome man was arrested near the intersecti­on of U.S. 411 East and Dodd Boulevard late Thursday night after being accused of having more than an ounce of marijuana.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jonathan Benjamin Whatley, 32, of 413 Wilshire Road, was stopped by Rome police around 11:45 p.m. Thursday.

He was found to be carrying more than an ounce of marijuana in a jacket pocket. He also had a small scale with marijuana residue on it.

Whatley was charged with felony possession of marijuana and miwsdemean­or possession of a drug-related object.

Whatley remained in jail Friday pending a $3,500 bond.
