Macon County wins Class A Public title
ATLANTA — K’Hari Lane threw four touchdown passes, setting the state’s single-season record, to lead No. 1-ranked Macon County to a 35-0 win over No. 6 McIntosh County Academy in the Georgia High School Association’s Class A Public championship Saturday.
Lane completed 16 of 23 passes for 183 yards. Three touchdowns went to Trey Brown, from 28, 21 and 7 yards. Jared Daniels caught a 13-yard touchdown pass, rushed for 121 yards and scored on a 19-yard run.
Lane finished with 56 touchdowns, breaking the mark set by Hutson Mason of Lassiter in 2009. Lane threw for 3,740 yards this season.
McIntosh County Academy (10-3) was limited to 159 total yards and lost two fumbles inside the Macon County 5 yard line. Major Robinson was 9-for-20 passing for 92 yards, but threw one interception and was sacked twice.
