Nine Pepperell and eight Armuchee wrestlers place in the top six of their weight classes in the Parlay Invitation­al.

Varsity wrestling teams from Floyd County traveled to Acworth Friday and Saturday, going up against some of the larger schools in the state in the Allatoona Parlay Invitation­al.

Competing against 16 different schools, nine Pepperell wrestlers placed in the top six of their respective weight classes, while Armuchee had eight.

The Indians had two wrestlers come away as champions as Armuchee’s Wes Conley went 4-0 to win the 120-pound class and Jacob Henderson topped the 182-pound bracket with a 3-0 record.

Cameron Estes (106), Trace Daitz (160), and J.C. Burkett (220) all took third, while Riley Purdy was fourth at 113, Ethan Nixon (145) was fifth and Octavian Jeffers (285) was sixth.

Two Pepperell wrestlers reached the finals, with Jaxon Troy finishing in second in the 145pound class and Hinton Bollinger taking first in the 285-pound class.

Blaze Adams (106), Josh Ross (138) and Jack Barnett (195) got sixth place finishes, while Ben Robinson (120) and Ethan Sharp (132) both finished 5th.

London Camp (113) and Jake Ross (170) both cracked the top three.

BASKETBALL Pepperell boys 68, Haralson County 51

The Pepperell Dragons pushed through their third road game in as many days Saturday to pick up a 68-51 win over Haralson County on Saturday.

Malech Wilson led Pepperell with 23 points in the non-region win, while Branson Hanks and Dawson Melton both finished with 13.

Rockmart boys 43, Cedartown 33

Rockmart’s Morgan Sims led all scorers with 17 points as the Yellow Jackets picked up a 43-33 win over cross-county rival Cedartown in Rockmart on Saturday.

Sims went 10-for-10 at the free throw line, while team mate Bronson Garner finished 11 points on the night for the only other player in the game to get to double digits.

Cedartown (3-3) was paced by Trevon Wofford’s eight points.

Rockmart girls 46, Cedartown 39

The Lady Yellow Jackets fought through a physical game on their home court Saturday to defeat rival Cedartown 46-39.

Rockmart’s Madison Davis led her team with 12 points, while Mollie Little finished with nine and Kahayla Robinson had six.
