Red Bud Road Piggly Wiggly closing

The store will permanently close its doors this Saturday.

CALHOUN — According to Rockdale Grocery, the company that owns the Calhoun Piggly Wiggly, located on Red Bud Road, the store will permanently close its doors this Saturday.

“It’s not one of those things you want to do, but at some point, it’s just not financially possible,” said Scott Lewis with Rockdale Grocery. “We can’t continue to operate; there’s not enough sales to continue.”

According to Lewis, the decision on what will happen with employees of the store has not been made.

Rockdale Grocery, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates a chain of grocery stores in north and west Georgia. The company was founded in 1986 and is based in Conyers, Georgia.
