AAU BASKETBALL TRYOUTS — Northwest Georgia Select Basketball will hold open tryouts for AAU teams this month at the Anthony Center gym in Garden Lakes. The men’s 16U (ninth/10th grade) and 17U (11th/12th grade) team tryouts will be Monday and Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. The head coach is Sean Perkins. ARSENAL SOCCER REGISTRATION — Early registration is underway for YMCA Arsenal recreation soccer through Monday for U6 through U15 boys’ and girls’ teams for the upcoming season. The cost is $69 for YMCA members and $109 for nonmembers, and includes a jersey, end-of-season award, and family celebration, as well as Georgia Soccer Association registration. Practices begin March 6 and are held once a week for an hour. All coaches are licensed through Georgia Soccer and games are held Friday or Saturday depending on the division beginning the weekend of March 17. is open until March 5 and will cost $60 for T-ball and $75 for baseball and softball. PRESCHOOL SOCCER CLASSES — The YMCA Arsenal soccer program is hosting Lil’ Gunners Preschool Soccer classes in March and April that focus on introducing soccer through games and activities. The cost is $35 for YMCA members and $60 for non-members, and includes a team shirt and medal. Classes meet at Grizzard Park every Thursday from 4:45-5:15 p.m. and have a maximum of 15 children. Session 1 begins March 2, while Session 2 begins April 6.
