Broiler/Fryer: National Broiler Market at-a-Glance For March 2

Whole broiler/fryer prices are trending steady to firm with a stronger undertone for smaller birds in the Central region. Offerings are light to moderate, slightly more available for larger sizes. Retail demand is mixed, mostly moderate, with increased interest reported due to first of the month business. Food service demand is in a full range, mostly moderate. Floor stocks are balanced. Market activity is slow to moderate. In the parts complex, prices are trending steady to firm for breast items and dark meat cuts, but steady to weak for wings. Offerings are very light to moderate for breast items and dark meat which is still being aided by export interests. Wings are moderate to heavy but in a slightly better balance than earlier this week. Market activity for parts is slow to moderate. In production areas, live supplies are moderate at mixed, but mostly desirable weights.
