Judge grants Gardhigh’s bond
Conditions of the murder suspect’s $100,000 bond include an ankle monitor.
A Floyd County Superior Court judge granted a $100,000 bond for a man accused of the Dec. 28, 2016, beating death of a Lindale man.
Judge Billy Sparks granted bond to Corey Demarcus Gardhigh, 31, of Cedartown, on Tuesday with the stipulation that Gardhigh also wear an ankle monitor, be confined to his mother’s home, not possess a firearm, or consume or possess alcohol or drugs.
Sparks also ordered Gardhigh to have no contact with the victim’s immediate family or witnesses — including
his son’s mother and his son.
“The court believes the defendant is a risk to intimidate witnesses, particularly his son, based upon the fact that the son’s statements conflict with the defendant’s versions of events,” the order stated.
As of Tuesday night, Gardhigh’s bond had not been posted.
In the order the judge also stated Gardhigh had “apparent anger issues,” citing the fact that he has a pending simple battery charge under the Family Violence Act.
The Floyd County District Attorney’s Office opposed granting Gardhigh bond in a hearing on Monday.
The fatal attack which led to Gardhigh being charged with felony murder took place at the home of Paul Anthony Grady at 15 S. Central Ave. in Lindale, police said.
Gardhigh worked for Grady, who was a painting contractor, said Floyd County police investigator Amy Nails said.
Police said he argued with Grady over money and then attacked Grady while Gardhigh’s son and son’s mother were in the car outside of Grady’s home. Grady later died at the hospital as a result of his wounds.
