Mr. Chester Perry Garmon, age 83 of Pace, Florida, formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1933 in Bluffton, Alabama. He was the son of the late Clifton Russell and Electa Mabel Peek Garmon.

Mr. Garmon worked for General Electric of Rome in the engineerin­g department for 38 years. He was a former member and deacon of the New Harmony Baptist Church in Cedartown; and now a member of the Wallace Baptist Church in Pace, Florida.

Mr. Garmon is survived by his wife, Jeanette Marie Knight Garmon; daughter, Patti Garmon Hurd (James) of Pace, Florida; son, Michael Garmon (Guadalupe) of Yucaipa, California; sisters, Allie Pope and Alma Jackson; grandchild­ren, Ana Paula Garmon, Sara Garmon, Matthew Garmon, Jenny Hurd, Nan Hurd and Betsy Hurd; great-grandchild­ren, Nora Hurd, Bethany Hurd and Helen Grace Hurd and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Garmon is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ellie Voyles and brothers, Carl Garmon, Rev. Clinton Garmon, Fay Garmon and Herman Garmon.

The funeral arrangemen­ts for Mr. Chester Perry Garmon will be conducted on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at eleven o’clock in the morning at New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Stephens, Rev. Billy Frasier and Brother Eddie Davis officiatin­g. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery with Mr. Bill Garmon officiatin­g.

The family of Mr. Garmon will receive family and friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearer­s: Don Garmon, Paul Garmon, Crickett Knight, Vernon Knight, Carl Knight and Clyde Davis. Honorary pallbearer­s will be the Deacons of New Harmony Baptist Church.

The family has requested that flowers are to be omitted and donations can be made to the New Harmony Baptist Church General Fund, 951 Prior Station Road, Cedartown, GA 30125.

Mr. Howard Randolph Pitman, Sr., age 82, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at a local assisted living facility.

Howard was born on May 23, 1934 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Robert Pitman and the late Lillie Sorrow Pitman. Mr. Pitman grew up as a farmer, up until the age of 19, in the southern Atlanta area. When he moved with his family, he stated he “cried like a baby to leave his best friend behind at the farm, Grey, his beloved mule.” He joined the United States Army in 1954 and later went on the work at Lockheed Martin as Tool and Die Constructo­r, retiring at the age of 65. As he was living with Randy and Donna, he reminisced of the days when he was on the farm and how much he truly loved living there. He also looked forward to the time when living in Paradise, he could be a farmer once again, growing the perfect watermelon. Howard looked forward to being able to meet his parents in the new world. He came to appreciate the promises of Jehovah and truly loved everyone at the Kingdom Hall. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by a son, Christophe­r Dewayne Pitman, Marietta, and by 3 brothers, Johnny Pitman, Ft. Worth, TX, Joseph Pitman, Atlanta, and David Pitman, Austell.

Survivors include 2 sons, Howard R. Pitman, Jr., and his wife, Donna, Rome, and Joseph Lyndon Pitman, and his wife, Joyce, Marietta; 2 daughters, Melissa Crawford, and her husband, Hershall, Amarillo, TX and Tami Leigh Fill, Marietta; 1 sister, Kay Scarboroug­h, and her husband, Jim, Tucker, GA; grandchild­ren, Michael Poole, and his wife, Lorie, Silver Creek, Christian Fill and Caleb Fill, both of Social Circle, GA; great-grandchild­ren, Joshua David Poole, Silver Creek and Aaron Jacob Poole, Rutherford­ton, NC; numerous nieces, nephews and other in-laws also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 2pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2527 Cedartown Highway, Rome, with Bro. Grady Stewart officiatin­g.

The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Hall on Saturday, from 12 pm until 1:45 pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at their respective residences.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses, World Wide Work.

Ms. Jamie Marie Cordell Strano, age 44, of Homestead, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Brooks officiatin­g. Private interment will be in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Mr. Hugh Warren Gaston, Jr. age 76 of Euharlee, Georgia passed away at a local hospital Monday March 13, 2017.

A Rosary will be conducted March 17, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Daniel’s Funeral Home with Deacon Stu Neslin officiatin­g. Inurnment of the ashes will be at a later date.
