Tina Marie Jackson, age 54, of Rome passed away on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center, from complicati­ons with cancer.

Tina was born August 23, 1962 in Floyd County. She was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Kelley Jackson, father, Moses Leonard Jackson, brothers, Mark Jackson, Jeffery Jackson, her husband and soul mate Leon Everett. It’s with great sorrow that I say goodbye to my beautiful sister you were loved by many and brought joy to everyone she knew. She will live forever in our hearts and minds.

Tina is survived by her sister, Cynthia Jones, and her brother in law, James Jones, and her nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday March 20, 2017 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour on Monday, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

James Treglown

Mr. James Treglown, age 94, of Rockmart passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 17, 2017.

Mr. Treglown was born February 23, 1923, in Floyd County, a son of the late Robert Treglown and Bessie Ware Treglown. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Haney Treglown; brothers Dana Treglown, Larry “Butch” Treglown and Richard Treglown; and sisters Clara Mae Holcomb, Evelyn Shivers, Myra Stansell and Betty Treglown.

Mr. Treglown was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church, and was retired from West Point Pepperell. He was also a World War II veteran of the United Stated Army and fought during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France, where more than 9,000 allied soldiers were killed or wounded. He was one of the many soldiers wounded during that invasion.

Survivors include his son, Phillip (Janice) Treglown, Rockmart; three grandchild­ren, Jason Walters, Jennifer Walters and Jada Treglown; five great-grandchild­ren, Justin Walters, Katlyn Walters, Jacob Walters, Chase Dougherty and Andrew Tracy; a brother, Ray Franklin Treglown; three sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Kilgo, Faye Mundy and Wilma (Berman) Bennett; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday March 19, 2017 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Melody Stephens, officiatin­g. The family will receive friends from12:30 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion will conduct full military graveside rites.

Pallbearer­s will include Allen Sartin, Danny Brackett, Torie Dougherty Adam Tracy, David Woods, Andrew Tracy, Jacob Walters, and Chase Dougherty.

Mrs. Mary Avanell Justice Nelson, age 83, of Rome, passed away Wednesday evening, March 15, 2017, in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Nelson was born in Floyd County, GA on Jan. 29, 1934, daughter of the late James Alton Justice and the late Lillie Mae Hathcock Justice. She was employed for several years with Redford’s 5 & 10 and with Thomas’ 5 & 10. Mrs. Nelson was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Eugene Nelson, to whom she was married on May 7, 1960; a daughter, Alice Nelson McDonald, and her husband, Don, Cave Spring; 2 grandchild­ren, Celisse McDonald Penson, and her husband, Kevin, Peachtree City, and Chelsey McDonald, Atlanta; a great grandchild, Maya Zahra Ngwenya, Peachtree City.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Father Austin Goggans officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 12 noon until 1:45 pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Mrs. Glenda Faye Smart Westmorela­nd, age 74, of Silver Creek, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at her residence.

Mrs. Westmorela­nd was born in Cherokee County, AL on February 20, 1943, daughter of the late Bernard Duel “B.D.” Smart and the late Myrtle Lee Poole Smart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Van Westmorela­nd, Sr. Glenda graduated from Pepperell High School in Lindale and the Roffler Moler Barber College in Atlanta. Following graduation from Barber College, she trained under Alfred Robinson at The Greystone Barber Shop in Rome and eventually purchased the business from him. She then, being the first female barber in Floyd County, owned and operated The Greystone Barber Shop on Broad Street for over 47 years. Mrs. Westmorela­nd was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Meredith “Sassy” Barron, and her husband, Tommy, Rome, and Letitia Chapman, Rome; a son, Joe Van Westmorela­nd, Jr., and his wife, Cyndi, Kingston; 3 grandchild­ren, Dylan Joe Ingle, Rome, Tyler Jackson Autry, Ft. Campbell, KY, and Benjamin Hugh Chapman, Jr., Rome; a great grandchild, Max Heida, Rome; 2 brothers, Benny Smart, and his wife, Eunice, Lindale, and Steve Smart, Rome; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 2 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Joey Motes officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Forney, AL.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 12 noon until 1:45 pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at their respective residences.

Pallbearer­s are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday at 1:30 pm and include: Tim Moon, Wyatt Bramlette, Gary Evans, Dylan Ingle, Tommy Barron, and Barry Ray Stephens.
