The Georgia Mountain Music Club meets every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Charles C. Parker Center, 1325 Kingston Road. Members and guests will be performing Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel music on stage. Visitors are welcome to attend the program and the program is free. The Rome Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Brookdale Senior Living facility at 180 Woodrow Wilson Way. A free presentati­on will focus on exercise and diet. The Rome Tea Party will host its March Lunch Bunch meeting Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Fuddrucker­s, 595 Riverside Parkway. The program will focus on the American Health Care Act as well as the status and future of President Donald Trump’s proposed travel ban. The Rome Noon Optimist Club will hold their annual Student of the Year program Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave. Outstandin­g students in the following categories will be recognized: Life Hero, Community Involvemen­t and All-Around. Scholarshi­ps will be awarded.

The Floyd County Landlord Associatio­n will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Fuddrucker­s. Howard Gibson of the building inspection office will be the guest speaker. He will be talking about property maintenanc­e codes and procedures. Gibson will also discuss local and state concerns facing landlords in the upcoming year that will impact deposits and how to obtain informatio­n on future tenants.

The riverboat Myra H. and steamboat Dixie restoratio­n and preservati­on will be discussed at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Rome Area History Museum, 305 Broad St. Residents interested in learning about and participat­ing in these projects are invited to attend the meeting. The Exchange Club of Rome will meet Friday at noon at The Palladium at the Coosa Valley Fairground­s, 69 Church St. The speaker will be Bruce Day with Habitat for Humanity.

The Dixie Stompers will hold their 13th annual ’50s dance for the American Cancer Society on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Charles C. Parker Center, 1325 Kingston Road. Duke and Mary Edwards will perform 1950s favorites. The cost is $8 per person. All the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. The Porcelain Art Guild will meet at Paula Baker’s Studio on Saturday at 10 a.m. Anna Nichols will present the workshop, “Designing and Building Orchids from Porcelain Clay.”

One Community United will hold its quarterly meeting Saturday at 6 p.m. at North Broad Baptist Church. Free dinner is provided but donations are accepted. Animal Rescue Foundation will sponsor its second annual Car and Truck Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ollie’s in West Rome next to Sonic. While the show will be free for attendees, there will be a $20 entry fee for each vehicle for show. Categories are pre-1950s, pre-1970s and late model (anything newer than 1970). Enrollment for Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation’s Spring Break

Camp, taking place at the Anthony Center at 2901 Garden Lakes Blvd., is now open. The camp will run March 27-31. Drop-off times begin at 7:30 a.m. and pickup is no later than 6 p.m. The camp is for children ages 5-14 and costs $100 per child. Camp Anthony is also offering nine weeks of summer day camps from May 30 through July 28. Each camp has a different theme and a field trip, and costs $100 per child for each week. Registrati­on for the Rome Little Theatre Academy’s Summer Workshop is open to students ages 6-16. The summer stock-style workshop, which runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 12-16, is designed to challenge both novice and experience­d young actors. An early registrati­on price of $155 is offered through March 31. The price will go up to $175 on April 1. Tuition includes lunch daily and a T-shirt. The annual Chieftains Plant & Herb Sale will take place April 8-9 at the Coosa Valley Fairground­s, with sale hours from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. The event is a fundraiser for the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home. Floyd County Master Gardener volunteers will be present to offer advice, and those who want their soil tested should bring soil sample bags.

The Northwest Georgia Winds and Guests will present “Across the Big Pond XVII” on April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Forum River Center. The annual gala Celtic concert will include bagpipers, dancers, soloists and more. Admission is $5.
