Gordon Central golf teams sweep at Meadow Lakes

The Gordon Central golf teams both came away with wins Monday at Meadow Lakes Golf Course

The boys scored a 189 to defeat Pepperell (198), Armuchee (206) and Coosa (215).

For the Warriors, Branton Lawson shot a 54, Jordan Hardin carded a 45, Josh Hardin recorded a 44, and Stanton Walker shot a 46.

For Pepperell, Cody Ballard shot a 48, Conner Chandler had a 44, Ben Robinson shot a 50, and Hunter Chastain had a 56.

For Coosa, Dawson Tate shot a 40, Caleb Ray shot a 46, Griffin Goss shot a 67, and Lathe Spivey shot a 72.

For Armuchee, Drequann Cook recorded a 43, Tom Durrall shot a 60, Will Leonard had a 45, and Trate Daitz had 58.

In the girls’ match, Gordon Central won 99, Pepperell shot a 101, and Armuchee finished with a 106.

For the Lady Warriors, Cierra Lawson shot a 44, and Abigail Hayes had a 55.

Pepperell’s Josie McGraw shot a 53, Grace Hufford shot a 48, and Sydnie Edwards had a 53.

Armuchee’s Bryson Steen shot a 52, and Caitlin Baggett finished with a 54.

Coosa’s Abigail Talley, playing as an individual, shot a 55.

Pepperell will compete again today against Coosa and Model at BEAA.

At No. 1 singles, Celine Chan won 1-6, 7-5, 6-2; No. 1 doubles, Mary Jo McCormick and Ripley Bennett won 6-2, 6-2; and at No. 2 doubles, Flora McCurry and Elizabeth Eberhart won 6-6, 10-6, 4-6, 6-3.

Jordan Smith won in an exhibition match, 6-0, 6-0.

Rome (8-2) will next play East Paulding at the Rome Tennis Center.
