Warrant: Inmate on work detail had drugs at recycling center

A state prison inmate was in the Floyd County Jail without bond Wednesday night, accused of having drugs while on a work detail.

According to jail and Georgia Department of Correction­s records:

Hollis Howard Turner, 46, of 55 Leslie Lane in Temple, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant issued July 5 while he was an inmate at the Floyd County Prison.

Turner was on a work detail at the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center on Watters Street when a search of his person turned up a bag containing suspected marijuana, suspected methamphet­amine, three lighters and two packs of cigarette rolling papers.

He is charged with felony possession of items prohibited for possession by inmates.

Turner is currently listed as assigned to the Coffee County Prison, where he is serving a 2014 sentence for theft and drug charges.
