Inmate who fled from work detail is indicted

The inmate is serving a 20-year sentence for several violent felonies.

A state inmate on a Floyd County Prison crew accused of walking off from his work detail while checking drains on Sproull Road is among those recently indicted.

Police captured Garrett Terrell Shields in Atlanta a day after he reportedly left his work crew on May 7, 2015.

Shields, who is serving a 20-year sentence for several violent felonies committed in 2007 in Fulton County, including aggravated battery and aggravated assault, was indicted on an additional escape charge.

Other indictment­s from Friday include:

Destin Storm Brand on an aggravated assault charge concerning a January 2017 attack with a golf club;

Derrick Micah Clay, Antonio Dewayne Coonrod, Markalla Laashon Ford and Nicole M. Wilson on theft by shopliftin­g charges concerning a January incident at Belk;

Skitara Louise Dublin on an obstructio­n of an officer charge;

Samantha Chantal Stubbs on a criminal damage to property charge;

Jonathan Benjamin Whatley on a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act charge;

Jasper Jermaine Brewster III on a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act charge;

Debra Marie Jones, Jonathan E. Sutton and Shane Lewis Hartley on a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act charge;

Clifford Whatley Thomas and Cindy Michelle Rittenberr­y on possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges;

Tracy Melvin Brooks on a possession of prohibited items by an inmate charge;

Megan Sue McCutchins on a possession of prohibited items by an inmate charge;
