COOSA VALLEY TENNIS ASSOCIATIO­N ROME OPEN — The first ever Rome Open, hosted by the Coosa Valley Tennis Associatio­n, will take place April 8, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College. The event will include women’s doubles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. The event is open only to players 18 and older. It will be an eight-game, no-add pro sets, round-robin format with overall winners advancing. The cost for registrati­on is $20 for playing in one division with a chosen partner, $30 for two divisions with a chosen partner, $25 for one division without a partner, and $35 for two divisions without a partner. Players will receive balls provided by the tennis center and a Rome Open hat. The deadline for entry is April 5. Visit cvta.us/wp/rome-open-registrati­on to register online.

PRESCHOOL SOCCER CLASSES — The YMCA Arsenal soccer program is hosting Lil’ Gunners Preschool Soccer classes in April that focus on introducin­g soccer through games and activities. The cost is $35 for YMCA members and $60 for nonmembers, and includes a team shirt and medal. Classes meet at Grizzard Park every Thursday from 4:45-5:15 p.m. and have a maximum of 15 children. The session begins April 6.

LADY WOLVES VOLLEYBALL CAMP — The ninth annual Lady Wolves Volleyball Camp will take place April 10-13 at the Rome Middle School gym. The camp is for girls in grades fifth through eighth, and players will need to bring water, knee pads and tennis shoes. Each day will run from 4-5:30 p.m., and will be staffed by Alecia Parker and Tasha McDaniel. The sessions will include passing, setting, footwork, rotation and scrimmage. Students will learn the basics of volleyball as well as some specialize­d skills. The cost is $50.

WOLF NATION 5K — The first Wolf Nation 5K and 1-mile race to benefit the Rome High School cross country and track programs will be April 22 at Rome High School, 1000 Veterans Memorial Highway. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. while the 1-mile race starts at 9:30 a.m. The start and finish line will be at the high school.
