The Church Bowling League will begin its 15th year of competitio­n at Classic Lanes on Huffaker Road with the organizati­onal meeting for the spring-summer season today at 7 p.m. at the lanes. Representa­tives from churches as well as all interested persons are invited to attend for informatio­n and to register teams or singles. A team consists of four bowlers.

Registrati­on for the Rome Little Theatre Academy’s Summer Workshop is open to students ages 6-16. The summer stock-style workshop, which runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 12-16, is designed to challenge both novice and experience­d young actors. An early registrati­on price of $155 is offered through Friday. The price will go up to $175 on Saturday. Tuition includes lunch daily and a T-shirt. The fifth annual Spring Art Market will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rome Civic Center, 402 Civic Center Drive. Free entry and free parking.

The annual Chieftains Plant & Herb Sale will take place April 8-9 at the Coosa Valley Fairground­s, with sale hours from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. The event is a fundraiser for the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home. Floyd County Master Gardener volunteers will be present to offer advice, and those who want their soil tested should bring soil sample bags.

The Northwest Georgia Winds and Guests will present “Across the Big Pond XVII” on April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Forum River Center. The annual gala Celtic concert will include bagpipers, dancers, soloists and more. Admission is $5.

The 27th annual Up the Creek Trail and Century Ride will be held April 29. Early registrati­on will be held April 28 from 2-6 p.m. at Cycle Therapy, 27 Central Plaza. Ride-day registrati­on will be held at 6:30 a.m. at the Forum River Center, 301 Tribune St. Rides of 32, 53, 71, 81, 104 and 109 miles depart at 8 a.m. The Harbin Clinic family trail ride of 5 miles will depart at 9 a.m. For more informatio­n visit www. itsyourrac­e.com.

The Friends of the Library will be sponsoring a special 2017 springtime Paperback Book Sale in the Oostanaula Room of the RomeFloyd County Library on Riverside Parkway. The sale will be open April 26-27 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All regular-size paperbacks will be 25 cents or 5 for a $1. All oversize paperbacks will be 50 cents or 3 for a $1. All proceeds benefit the library and support the Friends of the Library.
