Dragons take 3-2 win over Coosa

A two-run fifth inning was the boost Pepperell needed Wednesday to take a 3-2 win over Coosa in a Region 7-AA game at Otis Gilbreath Field in Lindale.

Braden Adams and Blake Vasser each drove in a run for the Dragons, while Parker Covington threw all seven innings, striking out six in the winning effort. He also had three hits.

Coosa (6-13, 2-5 7-AA) was led at the plate by Jay Hamby, who had two his and a RBI.

Pepperell (7-11, 6-2) will travel to Chattooga on Friday, while the Eagles visit Dade County.

Rockmart 9, Armuchee 0

Avery Allen struck out six to get the win on the mound and brought in four runs for the Rockmart Yellow Jackets in their 9-0 Region 7-AA win at Armuchee on Wednesday.

Hunter Clark struck out five in four innings for Armuchee (4-7, 4-2 7-AA), which travels to Dade County today for a 4 p.m. game.

LACROSSE: Darlington girls 20, Meadowcree­k 9

Lizzie LaVangie had seven goals and Kathryne Ledbetter added six more as the Darlington Lady Tigers rolled to a 20-9 win over Meadowcree­k at home Wednesday.

Samanda Cox had three goals and two assists for Darlington, while Tate Morgan had a goal and three assists, and Ledbetter assisted on two goals. Katie Li, Gracie Chisolm, and Annabelle Braden had a goal apiece, and goalie Hayden Baldwin had two saves.
