seminar titled “Let’s Talk About HPV: An Evening for Mothers and Daughters” will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in the lower level classrooms A and B at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Dr. Kristen Leezer, Northwest Georgia OB/GYN, will share informatio­n about HPV and answer questions. Redmond’s Women’s Center nurse practition­ers will also provide breast health informatio­n. The Puryear Detachment of the Marine Corps

The YMCA of Rome and Floyd County will celebrate Healthy Kids Day on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grizzard Park. Admission is free and open to the public. Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of families. The day will include fun active play and educationa­l activities to keep kids moving and learning. The annual Chieftains

Plant & Herb Sale will take place Saturday and April 9 at the Coosa Valley Fairground­s, with sale hours from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. The event is a fundraiser for the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home. Floyd County Master Gardener volunteers will be present to offer advice, and those who want their soil tested should bring soil sample bags.

Library will be sponsoring a special 2017 springtime Paperback Book Sale in the Oostanaula Room of the Rome-Floyd County Library on Riverside Parkway. The sale will be open April 26-27 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All regular-size paperbacks will be 25 cents or 5 for a $1. All oversize paperbacks will be 50 cents or 3 for a $1. All proceeds benefit the library and support the Friends of the Library.
