The Renew Our Rivers 2017

cleanup will take place Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Armuchee Creek. The group will meet at New Armuchee Baptist Church, 5385 Martha Berry Highway, for staging, breakfast and a safety talk. Participan­ts should wear boots and long pants. The cleanup will concentrat­e near the cemetery between Martha Berry Highway and Old Summervill­e Road. Boats will not be needed, but volunteers with trucks and winches to remove appliances, sofas and other items will be helpful. There will be plenty of opportunit­ies for people to help clean along the creek and on both sides of the highway. For more informatio­n call 706-236-4456. The Northwest Georgia

Winds and Guests will present “Across the Big Pond XVII” on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Forum River Center. The annual gala Celtic concert will include bagpipers, dancers, soloists and more. Admission is $5.

Class of 1957 will hold its 60th class reunion Saturday at Bella Roma Grill, 770 Braves Blvd. Class members, spouses and guests should arrive around 4 p.m. Everyone will order from the menu.

The Friends of the Library will be sponsoring a special 2017 springtime Paperback Book Sale in the Oostanaula Room of the Rome-Floyd County Library on Riverside Parkway. The sale will be open April 26-27 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All regular-size paperbacks will be 25 cents or 5 for a $1. All oversize paperbacks will be 50 cents or 3 for a $1.

The 27th annual Up the Creek

Trail and Century Ride will be held April 29. Early registrati­on will be held April 28 from 2-6 p.m. at Cycle Therapy, 27 Central Plaza. Gardeners will offer a free community workshop, “Gardening in Containers,” on May 6, beginning at 11 a.m. at Chieftains Museum on Riverside Parkway. on June 17, at 6:30 P.M. at the Lovejoy Life Center, 436 Branham Ave. The program theme is “Together We Are Stronger... Breaking Every Chain.” The speaker will be the Rev. The Sulzbacher Roman

Holiday, the city of Rome’s public excursion boat, is offering public tours at 2 p.m. the first Sunday of each month through September. Each tour is limited to 40 passengers.
