Final: GAME 1 Rome 2, Hickory 1

Randy Ventura opened the game with a single and later scored on a sacrifice double play to give Rome the 1-0 lead. Christian Pache had an RBI single in the third, and the Braves held on to pick up the win in the first game of a doublehead­er.

Pache went 2 for 3 with an RBI; Anthony Concepcion went 2 for 3; Derian Cruz had an unassisted double play, one of two for Rome.

Rome starter Jeremy Walker scattered four hits and struck out two without a run in four innings. Jon Kennedy (2-0) got the win, pitching the final three innings and striking out the last batter with a runner on third.

GAME 2 Rome 4, Hickory 1

The Braves put together a three-run third on the way to sweeping a doublehead­er in North Carolina. The rally came after Hickory’s Yanio Perez homered in the second. Randy Ventura scored his second run in the sixth on a single by Anfernee Seymour.

Juan Yepez went 2 for 2 with a double and two walks; Ventura went 2 for 2 with two runs scored; Seymour went 3 for 4 with a run and two RBIs.

Oriel Caicedo (4-0) got the win, striking out two and allowing one run in five innings. Matt Custred got his first save of the season.

Rome completes its road trip today with a 10:30 a.m. game in Hickory.
