Robbers steal cash, jewelry in Tazo Food Mart holdup

Police are investigat­ing an armed robbery at the Tazo Food Mart at 618 Calhoun Ave. Tuesday.

According to Rome police reports:

Two black men, described as being between 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing toboggans with eyeholes cut out over their faces robbed the store at gunpoint around 4:14 p.m. Tuesday.

The cashier said he was watching a YouTube video on his phone when the armed men entered the store. They told the cashier to give him the money or they would shoot him. When he opened up the cash register they told him to also open a hidden cash register.

They stole several thousand dollars along with the clerk’s iPhone 6S, a 24-karat gold rope chain with gold charms of the Hindu god Hanuman and another Hindu charm.
