Georgia Highlands breaks ground for new building in Cartersvil­le

CARTERSVIL­LE — Georgia Highlands College broke ground Wednesday for its new academic building in Cartersvil­le.

GHC pursued funding for the constructi­on of a new academic building with a focus on science, technology, engineerin­g, art and math at the Cartersvil­le site.

GHC received a total $22.5 million in state funding to advance the project: $2.2 for design, $17.7 for constructi­on and $2.6 for equipment.

The groundbrea­king marked the start of constructi­on on the 52,000-squarefoot building, which is anticipate­d to be open for fall 2018. are starting to come out year after year,” said Aimee Madden, public informatio­n officer for the city of Cedartown. “It’s a great way to enjoy a summer evening, see folks you haven’t seen in a while and appreciate some of the great musical talent we have.”

Three concerts will take place — the first on May 26, the second on June 23 and the final one on July 28.
