The Rome Day Reporting Center will have its 25th commenceme­nt ceremony Tuesday at 6 p.m. at North Rome Church of God, 1929 N. Broad St.

The Floyd County Republican Women will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Red Lobster, 700 Shorter Ave, with the meeting to begin at noon. Carolyn Hall Fischer, candidate for Georgia GOP first vice-chairman, will be the guest speaker.

THURSDAY

The Rotary Club of Rome will host video tours of America with John English on Thursday. The club meets Thursdays at noon at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave.

The New Horizons Band will have an organizati­onal meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Franklin Hall at Shorter University. The group is made of members 50 years old or older who either played a band instrument in school and haven’t played in many years or would like to learn to play an instrument and play in a group setting. The Floyd County Master Gardeners will offer a free community “Gardening in Containers” workshop Saturday at 11 a.m. at Chieftains Museum on Riverside Parkway. New Life Church of God,

210 E. 18th St., will host Third Street Ministries on Saturday as they give away free spring clothing to those in need between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A prayer station will be set up for anyone who needs prayer.

The AIDS Resource Council’s fourth annual

Derby Bash fundraiser will be held Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at 507 E. Third St. The bash will serve traditiona­l Kentucky Derby fare and libations, and participan­ts will

watch the Kentucky Derby. There will be a best hat contest, with the winner receiving a $50 gift certificat­e from a Rome restaurant. A silent auction will include items donated by local merchants. Habitat for HumanityCo­osa Valley will be holding a family selection meeting at the Rome-Floyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and May 8 at 6 p.m. Applicants must have lived or worked in Floyd County for at least a year and have an income less than $51,350 to apply.

The Armuchee Ruritan Club will host the 2017 Roman Roast on the River Car Show on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ridge Ferry Park. The Northwest Georgia Winds and the Three Rivers Singers will present “Music to Honor America” on May 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rome City Auditorium on Broad Street. Admission is free. The Adult Unit of the Rome/Floyd County NAACP will hold its annual Freedom Fund Banquet on June 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lovejoy Baptist Church Joy Life Center, 436 Branham Ave. The program theme is “Together We Are Stronger ... Breaking Every Chain.” The speaker will be the Rev. Francys Johnson, president of the Georgia NAACP. Dinner tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for youth ages 12 and younger.
